Grants and Scholarships
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation is one of the largest grant makers in the region. Through our many different types of funds, we support a variety of granting and scholarship programs.
In FY 2009, the Mid-Shore Community Foundation issued numerous grants and scholarships with a total value of $1,077,791.

Grants Programs
Through our competitive grantmaking process and at the recommendation of our donor advisors and Grants Committee, we award grants to hundereds of nonprofit organizations each year.
Most grants and scholarships issued by the Mid-Shore Community Foundation are made possible through donor-advised and field of interest funds. The Grants Committee serves as a facilitator by reviewing all grant requests for eligibility and approving the distribution of eligible requests to fund representatives. Fund Representatives are free to recommend grants in response to all or none of the requests submitted.
In addition to distributing grants from donor-advised and field of interest funds, the Foundation makes grants from its unrestricted endowment (the Founders Fund for the Mid-Shore community and individual unrestricted endowments for each of the five Mid-Shore counties) and on behalf of deceased donors consistent with criteria established by the donor. The Foundation Board has a responsibility to balance the donors’ original charitable intentions, insofar as they are known, with the Foundation’s understanding of community needs.
Scholarship Programs
We award scholarships through a wide range of programs to students graduating from specific high schools, students who meet specific criteria, and students pursuing specific academic paths. Scholarships are awarded to students attending accredited colleges, universities, and technical and vocational schools
